Overview

The Product Manager has responsibility for product development, profitability, portfolio planning, and marketing for a group of products. This includes managing the product line throughout the product lifecycle (from design conceptualization to product launch), gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product line strategic vision, and working closely with designers, Engineering, Operations, and Sales to deliver winning products.

 

The Product Manager will create and maintain the product line business plan, detailing market opportunities as well as aligning product value propositions to take advantage of these opportunities. In addition, the Product Manager will perform market, sales, competitor, and internal profitability analysis. As the key business champion for the product, the Product Manager will interface with industry thought leaders, architects, designers, and strategic partners. He/She will also work with decision makers in Marketing and Sales Management to ensure that the product is correctly presented to the market. Additional responsibilities include working with customers, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service to ensure profitability and sales goals are met. Healthcare Products are a critical component in Humanscale’s overall product portfolio and help ensure the health and comfort of a workstation.

 

The Product Manager will be a key go-to person for the product line across the organization. Additional responsibilities include working with Customers, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service to ensure profitability and sales goals are met, as well as managing project teams in the development and launch of new products.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Global Product Director to create and maintain the product strategy of multi-generational product roadmaps
  • Execute in-depth market, industry and competitive product analysis programs. Synthesize results into product and market opportunities
  • Identify and specify global market requirements for current/future products through market research, communication with Sales team and direct customer input
  • Distill marketing requirements into product specifications. Assist in the development of project briefs to ensure functional requirements, market opportunity (by geography), competitive landscape, target cost, compliance needs are defined
  • Collaboratively build and manage project schedules that achieve a balance between quality, product cost, project budget, project scope and speed to market, driving tradeoff decisions when required.
  • Manage new product development projects, collaborating closely with Design, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Sales and suppliers from initial product brief to product launch. Ensure new products launch according to timeline, budget, and specifications. Proactively challenge functions on delivery and alternative courses of action
  • Work with Marketing to develop innovative launch programs; leverage digital platforms, events, and trade shows to deliver messaging consistent with product strategy
    • Support the Global Product Director in ensuring all running and inventory management changes are effectively executed and communicated to the sales organization.
  • Specify content for product & pricing guides, collateral materials and packaging strategies
  • Work with external third parties to assess business development opportunities
  • Work closely with the Sales team to provide support in developing sales tools and training
  • Participate in critical sales calls as an authority on the product line/industry
  • Approve/deny special pricing and special order request based on business objectives
  • Define product line logic including core models, derivatives, and kits.
  • Assist in closing large sales opportunities through product, market, and industry knowledge

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in roles involving Product Marketing, Project Management and/or New Product Development ideally focused on contract furniture, consumer electronics, healthcare equipment, ergonomic equipment or mechanical consumer products
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Demonstrated success in product launches and end-to-end execution of marketing plans
  • Experience developing relationships with co-marketing partners highly desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation experience to large audiences. Must be comfortable presenting products in a professional and compelling manner.
  • Detail oriented with a strong product orientation and project management
  • Good analytical skills and market research capability
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Must be able to travel 10% of the time
