    Overview

    The Quality Engineer will apply engineering knowledge, problem solving skills and ingenuity to resolve quality issues for all Humanscale Products. They will also drive continuous improvement for product and process performance.

    Responsibilities

    Customer Focus and Continuous Improvement

    • Quality Engineer is competent more than one product line and can efficiently address complaints and non-conformances that arise.

    • Plans and directs activities regarding development, application, and maintenance of quality standards as it relates to product specification and functionality through the product lifecycle
    • Investigates, conducts tests or experiments, gathers data, and performs preliminary analysis for product performance issues. Conducts root cause investigation and is responsible to drive implementation of corrective action and preventive measures
    • Directly responsible for customer complaint reduction to assigned Humanscale Product line.
    • Support and visit customer site for field complaint investigation and quality presence.

    Operations

    • Makes risk based decision when faced with releasing non-conforming products
    • Oversee efforts and works with production, inventory control and Inspection teams to quarantine/segregate parts when nonconformance is identified.
    • Directs workers engaged in measuring, testing product and tabulating data concerning test set up and procedure to follow.
    • Employ 8D 5Why's and other Lean tools to enhance Quality and productivity
    • When sort/rework of nonconforming material is required, provide support in recovery plan, set-up and training for execution of activity.
    • Initiate and lead efforts in implementing poka-yoke tools and fixtuers in production line to build quality products which eliminate customer complaints.
    • Participate in Lean activities including Kaizen events, 6S audits. Initiates, leads and participates in continuous improvement projects.

     

    New Product development

    • Review and evaluate project documentation for sound technical competence that delivers robust products/processes.
    • Support validation and verification of major or minor changes in product and process.
    • Actively engage in risk analysis and provide inputs to help develop mitigation strategies.
    • Approve Test plans/test reports for NPI and engineering changes.
    • May conduct internal Quality system audits and be involved with CAPA projects.

     

    Quality Systems

    • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering fields.
    • Devises sampling procedures and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
    • Compiles and writes training material, SOP’s, and QC Criteria as required.
    • Conduct training sessions on quality control activities to help develop skills of other team members.
    • Assist in managing the Humanscale Quality System.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
    • Solid communication skills, able to work effectively in cross functional teams.
    • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Experience in Solid works is a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead teams and drive projects to successful closure.
    • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives.
    • Demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work well in team environment.
    • Exercise initiative, achievement and independent judgment.
    • Should be willing to travel.
