    Overview

    Humanscale is looking for an experienced and dynamic Quality leader who will develop, adapt and execute the quality strategy to achieve key business objectives.

     

    Reporting to the Vice President of Global Operations, the Global Director of Quality will lead a team of Quality professionals across multiple sites who work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure Customer requirements are understood and met. S/he will support business growth and operational improvement initiatives by ensuring the appropriate quality processes are in place and are effective to meet customer needs and regulatory requirements. S/he will ensure that short-term customer quality issues are addressed quickly and effectively while ensuring that strategic projects are delivered to agreed timescales.  The Global Director of Quality is a critical role to reinforce Humanscale’s position as the global ergonomics leader with a reputation for designing intuitive products of the highest quality that improve comfort and health.

    Responsibilities

    • Be innovative, knowledgeable and intensely committed to ensure that every product and service we supply meets customer expectations. Where applicable this will require conformance to International Quality System Regulations and local requirements.
    • Develop and implement processes, procedures and specifications that ensure consistent, reliable supply of components from suppliers.
    • Marshall internal resources and external partners (design consultants, suppliers) to ensure short-term field quality issues are managed and resolved quickly and effectively.
    • Create long-term road-maps and drive improvements in Operational quality performance to enhance the customer experience and to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality. Review quality processes and drive changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Lead and guide to site Quality teams on matters such as compliance, industry best practices, and the impact to the business of changes in the external environment, such as new regulations, new product categories and new markets.
    • Ensure appropriate leading KPIs are in place and are reacted to in a timely manner
    • Manage personnel to develop talent and enhance engagement in an effort to improve business performance. Lead the development of a strong customer-focused culture throughout the quality organization.
    • Develop and effectively manage key relationships with business partners, in particular Operations and Commercial leaders. Benchmark and network within Humanscale and outside the company to develop new ideas that enhance the quality function and performance, and drive these to execution
    • As required by the business, participate in global and/or business-related projects ensuring the requirements of Quality are understood and considered when establishing strategy or planning/completing execution.
    • Ensure all sites under area of responsibility are compliant, and have quality systems and processes that meet the current business needs and are prepared for the future business needs of that site.
    • Ensure effective and efficient product transfer processes are in place to assure product quality at all times.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree with a scientific or engineering emphasis required. An applicable post-graduate qualification is desirable.
    • 15+ years of Quality leadership experience working in a multi-site manufacturing environment, ideally in a high volume, high mix, assemble-to-order manufacturing environment.
    • 5+ years of Director-level experience in Quality is highly desirable.
    • Prior experience of ISO9001 and ISO13485 quality management is a must.  Formal training in quality system management and problem-solving is desirable.
    • Ability to lead in a high pace environment – self-starter with a high sense of urgency.
    • Prior experience in product certifications (UL, CE, TUV) desirable.
    • Previous experience implementing quality within ERP systems is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Poke Yoke is highly desirable.
    • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills – ability to execute on priorities and effectively meet milestones.
    • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels within the organization both written and verbal.
    • Intellectually curious with a demonstrated ability to lead within a matrixed environment – partners effectively with other functions and across sites in the organization.
    • Strong analytical thinker with excellent problem solving skills
    • Ability to flex work hours and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 25% travel).
