    Overview

    Responsible for the coordination of the implementation of selected positive contribution activities and events. Effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders to achieve great impact while minimizing resources required.

    Responsibilities

      • Develop options for Humanscale positive contribution activities and events; including brainstorming to generate potential concepts, validating concepts through research into measurable sustainability contributions, generating project plans for implementation, and identifying any resources required.

       

      • Calculation and tracking of positive impact (handprinting) progress, specifically related to Humanscale’s Living Product Challenge commitment to achieve a Net Positive contributions of water, climate and energy for production of Diffrient Smart chairs and Float tables by September 2019.

       

      • Communicate with the International Living Future Institute to confirm that handprinting projects will qualify under the LPC standard. Humanscale is the first company to develop a handprinting program, and a number of technical challenges require resolving as we pioneer this initiative.

       

      • Respond to questions regarding sustainability aspects of Humanscale products and activities for sales staff and contracts in a timely manner.

       

      • Maintain published information regarding Humanscale product’s sustainability claims and contribution to green building certifications – both coordinating the update of Humanscale marketing documents, and maintaining the data on external databases.

       

      • Perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) of Humanscale products per the Product Category Rules (PCRs). Coordinate any 3rd party reviews of LCAs, and the publishing of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

       

      • Targeted research projects, coordinating summer interns, and support for sustainability initiatives as required.

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor's of Science in Sustainability, Environmental Science or equivalent
      • Basic knowledge of LCA, energy/carbon footprint calculation, LEED, and GRI reporting
      • Understanding of current sustainability approaches, such as Triple Bottom Line, Net Positive, and the Circular Economy
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Ability to organize and synthesize complex information
      • Ability to work independently, effectively and meet deadlines
      • Ability to work as a member of a high performing team in a dynamic environment.
